WHAT IS COUNSELLING?

Counselling is a special environment which allows you to talk to an understanding, non judgemental, caring individual who can help you process your emotions, learn ways to cope better with stress and anxiety, explore current situations in your life, and work towards better understanding yourself and your journey in life.

Counselling is conducted in a confidential environment with a strong emphasis on a safe space to explore your world and feelings. Licenced Counselling Therapists (LCT) must abide by the ethical framework put forth by the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapist Association and be a member in good standing with the College of Licenced Counselling Therapists of New Brunswick.

WHO WILL I SEE?

If you are looking to take advantage of all EAST ND has to offer, we recommend booking an initial consultation with one of our Naturopathic Doctors. This offers further investigation into your symptoms and additional treatment recommendations (ie. vitamin or herbal support for mental wellbeing).

If you are simply interested in counselling you can book directly with our therapist Ashley.  Ashley is a licensed counsellor who works closely with anxiety, depression, anger, grief/bereavement, stress, parenting-skills, separation/divorce (individual affects of), self esteem, confidence, suicidal ideation, work place issues.

Why would I need to see a counsellor?

Counselling can teach valuable coping skills, new ways of looking at problems and the thought patterns that get us there, and empowering us to create the momentum for change in our lives.

You would benefit by seeing our counsellor if you need help with:

  • Decreasing anxiety and stress in our bodies and minds
  • Challenging irrational thoughts
  • Increasing mood, positivity, and motivation
  • Processing and working through a loss (death, illness, divorce, separation, job etc)
  • Learning anger management skills
  • Parenting skills: techniques and action plans to reduce stress, negative behaviours and improve home life.
  • Increasing self care – self esteem, confidence, and quality of life

What services does Ashley offer?

Ashley offers one on one consultations. The initial session will explore your background, goals, identify support systems, and a treatment plan will be created.

Subsequent visits are mutually agreed upon based on individual needs.

In between sessions Ashley may require you to work through different activities, worksheets, and other progress enhancers that will empower you to maintain the relief you find during each visit.

Sessions are each an hour long.

Please note that all sessions are offered to individual clients, couple counselling or mediating services are not a part of our services.

*Telephone sessions are available by request.
